'On The Avenue' THE place to stay in NYC!

I recently returned 'home' to NYC and decided to stay at a hotel and treat it like a resort trip. Choosing OTA was THE best choice I could have made. Dollar for dollar, you won't find a better, more luxurious stay for your money. The staff (Ashley at check in to Jessie at check out) were so helpful and friendly and the attention to detail really caught my over critical design eye. After a week of staying at various hotels in the north east that were comparatively priced, it was a welcome relief to check in to the luxury of OTA! Kudos to the staff and all involved in OTA!

OK, Friday at midnight is just a few strokes away on the ballroom clock and it's time for all the travel guru contestants to jump into their pumpkin carriages and return home to await the results! Best of luck to ALL round 2 contestants as we wait for the big announcement! It's been quite an experience being in this competition but it has done much to bring Gaytravel.com and the needs of the GLBT traveler as well as the straight traveler's need for info to the fore front. If you are in the LA area, this Wednesday night, July 28th, take a trip down memory lane, or should I say, "lapse" of memory lane and catch The Apple Sisters crazy good show, "Oh Craps!" with guest appearances by some good ol' "Jersey Boys"! The sisters take it to the streets of Sin City in this latest show and scheme their way from buffet to buffet and try to dodge the mob while simultaneously handling live food items AND singing and dancing....and that's only the first 5 minutes! Seriously though, this all original show is a hoot with a "golly gee" sensibility...well, almost! It's just too hard to explain so, GO SEE IT:

Another sizzling Sunday in Sin City! Great turn out at the Luxor pool for Temptation Sundays! The heat is definitely on here in Vegas as , not only the mercury rises, but also the libidos around the pool deck! Meanwhile, over at Charlie's Sunday beer bust, those who are squeamish in the sun, found their way to the cool inner sanctum of Charlie's Sunday! Either choice...you hit the jackpot! Have at it boys!

Ok, I'm back in Vegas and the heat wave is over! It's down to 105! LOL! But tonight, at the Onyx Theater, NAKED BOYS SINGING will be hitting the stage at a little after 10 PM. If you're in Vegas and want something fun and titillating to do, then check out this long running Vegas staple for the gay theater goer! Clocking in at just over an hour, you can't spend your time in a better way! Just having hit it's 1 year anniversary, it's a definite crowd pleaser!

Sunset in Santa Monica

A beautiful summer night in Santa Monica is worth a thousand words. Walking along the beach, the smells , sounds and sights of couples, both straight and gay, are gazing at the water, holding hands and trying to hold on to each and every moment of the 7 minutes that it takes for the sun to actually vanish below the horizon. It's a precious 7 minutes indeed and for a thousand years, we have tried and I'm sure , for a thousand more we will feel the sunset slip through our fingers. But don't be sad. Because tomorrow, there will be another sunset to grasp and, God willing, that special hand to hold that you held today.

The Griffin: Extinct Legend or Queen of the Gays?

The creature of lore was thought to have the body of a lion and the head of an eagle.

The creature of fact is KNOWN to have the body of a lioness and humor as sharp as the talons of an eagle.

See the similarities? As modern folk, we have the benefit of the paparazzi and television, but it doesn’t take an archaeologist to figure out that one Griffin is definitely a descendant of the other! Especially if you were at ‘the palace’ of Caesar on Saturday night, July 10th and witnessed gays and straights who came to pay homage and offer up sacrifice to their queen of comedy, Kathy Griffin.

Presiding over her sold out court in Las Vegas, she dealt out what is ALWAYS a winning hand for her Sin City gays as well as gays that came from around the globe to see her at the Coliseum. According to legend, the extinct Griffin combined intelligence and strength and was charged with protecting the national treasures. THIS Griffin does just the same but ‘one ups’ her historical counterpart by vanquishing her enemies with humor and taking no prisoners.

Nothing is ever off limits for Griffin. Her hit cable show, The D List , is always at the top of HER list and no celebrity is safe. Having attended many KG shows in Vegas over the last few years, I always leave feeling the same things. My face hurts from smiling, my abs hurt from laughing and my eyes are swollen from crying. The down side to attending her show is that I inevitably get frustrated because I miss the first line of the next joke because the laughter won’t stop . You know the sound of a large group of gays laughing. Archaeologists in attendance at Caesar’s Palace NOW have a pretty good idea of what the LEGENDARY Griffin may have sounded like during its mating ritual . Thanks guys! Science has just answered one of it’s greatest mysteries! But here’s one of MY greatest mysteries. Who is charged with protecting one of OUR national treasures, Kathy Griffin? I have NO DOUBT that she can take care of herself. In the United States, we have “government”. But we have royalty too. And there is no question that Kathy Griffin is the Queen of the queens .
